About Janice
Janice Downes has been a familiar voice as a local Radio Personality, trusted Marketing Consultant and active member of our community for over 30 years. Originally from St. Charles, MO she moved to Columbia after graduating from NMSU (Truman State University) in Kirksville, MO.
Best known for connecting with listeners through request and dedication shows like The Softrock Sunset on 101.5 KPLA, Country Lovin' Dedications on Clear99, Y107's All Request Lunch Hour, and Co-Hosting New Country KIX 96.7's Morning Show as “JP” with Billy Greenwood and the late Jack Daniels, Janice also hosted radio shows on KTUF93, 98.3 KFMZ, 96.7 KCMQ, KOQL, NashFM 100.1 and iHeart Radio’s 93.7 The Bull in St. Louis.
As an experienced Advertising Executive for Cumulus Media, Janice helps local business owners reach more customers with radio & digital solutions that get results. She has worked with advertisers and agencies worldwide, and as the voice of many local and national brands. She has earned Creative Commercial Production and Sales Awards, Inside Columbia’s Best of 2015 Favorite Radio Personality Silver Award, and has consistently remained the All Time Favorite Female Voice at Voices.com for many years.
Janice is married to Steve Downes of Columbia, a Rockbridge alum and longtime member of our local construction community. They have two daughters, Jeseca and Jenna, who also attended Rockbridge and Mizzou, and now teach children as competitive cheerleading coaches at Eagle Elite Cheerleading in Columbia.
