March is Women’s History Month — a time to recognize the women who have shaped industries, strengthened communities, and expanded opportunities for generations to come. Real estate is no exception.
Throughout history, women have played a pivotal role in housing advocacy, fair lending, and neighborhood development. Leaders like Dorothy Mae Richardson helped pioneer community-based revitalization efforts that influenced national housing policy. Trailblazers such as Corrine Simpson pushed forward fair housing initiatives that expanded access to homeownership for underserved communities.
These women — and so many others — laid the groundwork for a more equitable and accessible housing industry.
But Women’s History Month isn’t just about national impact. It’s also about local legacy.
At Weichert, Realtors - House of Brokers, women have been central to our story from the very beginning. Our brokerage was founded by seven women (pictured above) — visionary leaders who built something bold, community-focused, and lasting. At a time when female ownership in business was far less common, they stepped forward with courage, grit, and determination.
Today, we are proud to continue that legacy with two women in ownership: Dawn Daly and Brooke McCarty. Their leadership, vision, and dedication help guide our brokerage forward while honoring the strong foundation that was built decades ago.
And that legacy doesn’t stop there. We are also proud to have seven incredible women on our staff who work daily behind the scenes to help our agents thrive:
Michelle O'Neal - Operations Manager
Laura Gauldin - Sales Manager
Tamala Anderson - Business Development Manager
Alana Nyhart - Director of Marketing
Natalie Eads - Processing Coordinator
Jessica Kempf - Compliance Coordinator
Jodi Lincoln - Administrative Assistant
Their expertise, leadership, creativity, and dedication create the structure and support that allow our agents to succeed at the highest level.
While our brokerage has grown and evolved, the influence of those seven founding women remains woven into our culture. Their courage created opportunity — and that opportunity continues to empower agents, clients, and our community today.
Women continue to shape the real estate industry in powerful ways. Nationally, women make up a significant portion of licensed real estate professionals and are often key decision-makers in home purchases. They serve as brokers, investors, developers, lenders, marketers, and community advocates — helping families build wealth and stability every day.
For us, Women’s History Month is deeply personal. It’s a celebration of the bold women who founded our company, the women who lead within our walls today, and the women in our community who trust us to guide them through some of life’s biggest decisions.
We are proud to have been women-owned at one time — and proud to still be prospering because of the strength, vision, and leadership of women.
Here’s to honoring the past, empowering the present, and building the future — together. 💛
